🍽️ The Dopest Food — Arlene's Meat & Three
If you drove past 534 Virginia Ave last weekend and did a double take, you weren't imagining things. Milktooth is gone. In its place: Arlene's — a Southern meat-and-three that chef Jonathan Brooks has been quietly dreaming up. Same address. Completely different meal.
Brooks named it after his mom (she's flattered, for the record), and the menu reads like a love letter to Southern comfort food done right. We're talking fried chicken that already has its own fan following (GF+DF), baby back ribs, blackened walleye, homemade meatloaf, braised cabbage that's somehow become the talk of Fountain Square, and a three-cheese mac made with cheddar, gouda, and — yes — cottage cheese. It works. Don't question it and be happy for the protein.
Plant-based? The "meal of three sides" has you covered. Sweet tooth? Do not skip dessert. The key lime pie will make you feel distinctly Floridian and the chocolate wine cake topped with homemade whipped cream is exactly as good as it sounds.
Brunch fans, breathe — it's not gone forever. Biscuits and gravy are back on Sundays, and Brooks promises the Dutch Babies will return. But for now, this is the new thing, and the new thing is very, very good.
📍 534 Virginia Ave · Thu–Mon, 11am–4pm (10am weekends) · No reservations
The Dopest Tip: They don't take reservations and they will sell out. Get there early, order the mac, and for the love of everything good in this city — get dessert.

🏎️ The Dopest Event — Miller Lite Carb Day
It's that time of year. The 110th Indianapolis 500 is Sunday, which means Carb Day is this Friday, May 22nd — and if you've never been, let us explain why it's actually the move.
The day kicks off with the final practice session, where all 33 drivers hit the track one last time before race day. Then comes the Pit Stop Challenge — a bracket-style competition where pit crews go head to head on speed and precision, which is somehow more thrilling than it has any right to be. And then there's the Oscar Mayer Wienie 500, a novelty race on the actual track that is completely absurd and completely unmissable.
Cap the afternoon with a headline concert from Counting Crows — Grammy and Academy Award-nominated, in case you need reminding — with special guest Switchfoot, included with all general admission tickets. It's racing, spectacle, and live rock music all in one day at the Racing Capital of the World.
And if you're not ready to call it a night? Head to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park for the Carb Night Classic — open-wheel racing and the 73rd Hoosier Hundred. Or keep it local at the Melody Inn in Butler-Tarkington, which throws one of the best Carb Day parties in the city. It's a dive bar. It will be packed. It will be perfect.
The Dopest Tip: Carb Day crowds are big but nothing like race day — it's one of the most fun, most accessible ways to experience IMS if you've been putting it off. Grab tickets at indianapolismotorspeedway.com.

🏡 The Dopest Home — 3544 Tulip Dr
Listed by Kevin Harcourt with Crossroads Real Estate Group LLC
We don't feature homes often. Mostly because real estate content is usually boring and we refuse to be boring. But 3544 Tulip Dr made us break our own rule, and we're not sorry about it.
This freshly updated 4 bed, 2.5 bath mid-century modern is loaded with the kind of character you literally cannot buy at Home Depot: dramatic vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, a striking stone fireplace, hardwood floors throughout, and expansive windows that flood the whole place with natural light. It's the house your taste level has been waiting for.
The layout is unusually flexible — three separate living spaces, a basement office perfect for working from home or avoiding your family with plausible deniability, and a large utility and laundry area that makes everyday life feel slightly less chaotic. The updated kitchen has quartz countertops, stainless appliances, and enough cabinet space to finally justify that KitchenAid you've been hoarding. The bathrooms have been tastefully renovated. New roof and gutters mean you're not inheriting anyone else's bad decisions.
Out back and there's a spacious deck overlooking a large yard with mature trees. And for some reason we all started caring about that in mid 30’s.
