🎤 The Dopest Festival — Chreece
"In a city that hums through cracked potholes, that mutters its name in whispers — Naptown. The echo chambers of basements and dive bars, where trying to be seen is trying to breathe. Summertime hangs heavy, sweat-slick and electric, the kind of heat that births verses and turns every corner into a stage."
That's what Chreece is about. Since 2015, this independent hip-hop festival has invested half a million dollars in over 800 artists — putting real money in the hands of Black, Indigenous, and minority artists who shape culture. It is one of the sickest events in Indianapolis and it happens right in Fountain Square.
This year: 80+ local hip-hop artists, DJs, and producers across eight venues in the neighborhood — HI-FI Annex, HI-FI Indoor, White Rabbit, Square Cat Vinyl, Atomic Bowl, Stone Tree, Fountain Square Plaza, and more. All ages options, 18+ options, 21+ options. The People's Village is a free, open-access community space with art, culture, and food — this year joined by Epicurean Indy Food Festival with 30+ international vendors.
The Dopest Tip: The Fountain Square Plaza stage is free and all ages — start there, feel the energy, then grab a wristband and go deeper into the venues.

🌮 The Dopest New Restaurant — Bocado Brunch & Te'Kila
A sculptural driftwood tree grows in the center of the dining room. Boho wicker and natural woods everywhere. A Tulum-inspired menu that runs from brunch all the way to dinner. Bocado Brunch & Te'Kila is moving into the old Rood and Bone space in SOBRO on N College this fall!
The menu blends traditional Mexican flavors with a modern American twist and it does it with serious intention. The street corn ribs appetizer. Chicken mole tacos with a strip of sticky sweet fried plantain tucked inside double corn soft tortillas. The Croque Señora — pork adobo, charred ham, elaborate but perfectly balanced. This is not Tex-Mex. This is something more considered and significantly more exciting.
The space is warm, elegant, full of natural textures, and makes you feel like you're somewhere else entirely. While their first location has been a hit in Noblesville, we're excited to get a new spot in the city. Local restaurateur Hugo Zavala also runs Los Agaves in McCordsville and Mornings Breakfast & Brunch in Fishers. We love to see local businesses thriving. Opening fall 2026 — put it on the list now!

☕ The Dopest Themed Coffee Shop — Black House Cafe
In a world of perfectly curated, aggressively Instagrammable coffee shops, Black House Cafe is something different. Horror movie posters floor to ceiling. Life-sized character cutouts. Props, newspaper clippings, and framed tributes to Scream, Beetlejuice, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Frankenstein. This place commits to the horror theme completely — decor, menu names, atmosphere, all of it — and it is so much better for it.
The drinks are named for the films that raised us. The cold brews and horror-themed lattes are genuinely good, which matters because a theme only gets you so far. The food menu includes fresh empanadas hand-folded by Chechori and baked fresh with rotating sweet and savory fillings, pastries, and breakfast bagels. Every empanada is stamped with its name so you always know what you're about to eat.
We need less perfectly curated spaces and more places that commit to the bit. Black House Cafe goes all the way and doesn't apologize for it. That's exactly the kind of energy Indianapolis needs more of.
